D.A.D.'s Day / Joseph P. DiRenzo Scholarship Golf Outing
 

On Saturday, June 11th, BACNJ held our annual golf outing. This year we were able to donate $25,500.00 to Diabetes research and provide three $4,000.00 scholarships to children of our members.  Our scholarship recipients are;

 Larissa Woods
 Stephen Patas
 Andrew Pirrera

 Over the past eleven years, BACNJ has donated $311,000.00 to the Diabetes Research Foundation and have awarded $124,000.00 in scholarships.

Director Richard E. Tolson and Secretary-Treasurer John F. Capo present IU Executive Vice President Gerard Scarano with a check in the amount of $25,000.00 for the Diabetes Research Institute.

Congressman Donald Norcross presents Director Rich Tolson with a marker (coin) from Washington, DC for all of his hard work and dedication to the event.

New Jersey Construction Workers Protest
 

On Tuesday September 6, 2016, approximately 3,000 New Jersey construction workers protested the use of out of state workers on a project in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

The project is being developed by Opus Investment Group.

BACNJ Locals 4 and 5 - Statewide Apprentice Contest
 

On Saturday, May 14, 2016 BACNJ Locals 4 and 5 held a statewide Apprentice Contest for first, second, third and fourth year apprentices.

We would like to congratulate all who participated and thank the judges, instructors and State Apprentice Coordinator Robert Alesandro for making it all possible!

Annual Retirees Luncheon
 

On Friday, October 16,2015 BAC Local #4, NJ held its annual Retirees Luncheon. In addition, the Local honored and celebrated Brother William Touw on achieving a milestone 75 years of service to the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. IUBAC Executive Vice President Gerard Scarano was in attendance to present Brother Touw his award.

IMI Seeking Masonry Professional
 

Team IMI LogoThe International Masonry Institute, a labor/management trade association, is seeking an engineer in New Jersey to join its national team of construction professionals. The candidate will help designers, owners and developers to better understand the performance and advantages of masonry in the building enclosure. The position requires the ability to organize, plan and implement a targeted effort to contact the appropriate decision makers and then provide the educational seminars, technical advice or plan review necessary to potentially increase the use of brick, block, tile, marble and related materials in key projects. The candidate will also participate in national team efforts to develop strategies and tools for specific topics such as restoration, the benefits of designing with structural masonry and sustainability. Training Opportunities at IMI
 

The national training center is part of your BAC membership. NJ Bricklayers are welcome to participate in training at the center without any further cost beyond your contributions you make weekly in your pay*.

*The welding program requires a refundable deposit and there are testing fees that are outside of the class

The center is a year round staffed location with classes of all types.
Members are housed and fed in the adjacent dormitory (image above).

 

Fall Training at the National Training Center

Training for BAC members continues this fall at the John J. Flynn BAC/IMI National Training Center.

 In addition, NJ BAC members are always welcome at either of our local training centers. The centers are open weekdays during normal working hours and many Saturdays coinciding with the regular school year. If you need to polish a skill, learn new techniques or get that certification the training centers nationally and locally are here to help.

OSHA TRAINING OPPORTUNITY - Bordentown
 


If you are a NJ BAC member, there is an OSHA 30 class being hosted in Bordentown.

Attendees must make ALL dates in order to be awarded certification.

CLASS DATES ARE: (Saturdays) OCTOBER 31st, NOVEMBER 7, 14, 21

If you are interested in attending this class please reach out to the training center (Ren Engelhart) with your intent.

Classes are no additional charge for current members but your interest will help to put a roster and plan refreshements. Please reach out if you are planning on attending.

 

OSHA Classes are hosted at both the Bordentown and Fairfield Training Centers at regular intervals during the school calendar year. For more information check back here, preview our calendar for the training schedule and 'like' our Facebook page.

BAC/ADC Golf Outing & Fundraiser
 

Some images from the BAC/ADC annual golf benefit. Over 25,000 dollars was raised to the Diabetes Research Institute. In addition, three $4,000 scholarships were awarded. This year there were over one-hundred participants and thanks to the generosity of this event the BAC/ADC of NJ has donated over $285,000 dollars towards the cure for diabetes. The event is also helped the Joesph P. DiRenzo Scholarhip Program to donated in excess of $110,000 dollars to BAC member families.

BAC Local #4 Recording Secretary Ronald Green accepting on behalf of Miss Paige Durrant, who could not be with us. Paige is the daughter of BAC Local 4 member Brad Durrant, who passed away last year.

2016 will be the eleventh year the BAC/ADC of NJ will be offering the Joseph P. DiRenzo Memorial Scholarship Competition. The scholarship awards selected union member families a $3000 scholarship towards higher education costs. Information on applying for this and other opportunities is open to BAC members. If you would like information on how to apply please reach out to your local. In addition as the scholarship information is solidified for the year it will be posted here on this site as it was earlier this year.

The BAC/ADC of NJ is proud to support our youth as they further their education! Congratulations to all new and past recipients.
