Ocean City Home Bank Always Banks on Union Labor

BACNJ Adds Value To The Construction Process

OC Home BankFounded in 1887, Ocean City Home Bank is the area’s leading financial banking institution in both performance and community involvement. We currently operate ten full-service branches in Atlantic and Cape May Counties and continue to expand while remaining true to our original vision of exceptional products and services.

In 2009, Ocean City Home Bank built and opened a branch banking office at 317 South Pitney Road in Galloway Township, New Jersey. We chose ICON Construction, a Union contractor, as our construction partner for this project.

Ocean City Home Bank has a long history of using Union labor including the New Jersey Union of Bricklayers. In addition to our Galloway office, Union contractors have completed work on our Ocean City and Linwood branches, which are both two story buildings with brick facades, as well as stonework on our Ventnor, Egg Harbor Township and Mays Landing branch locations.

The Union contractors we work with enjoy excellent reputations for skilled talent, quality installations and safe work environments. Most importantly, they deliver consistent results from one project to the next. That’s important to Ocean City Home Bank, because each branch office is an extension of our company’s brand image. Knowing what to expect from our construction

team keeps our projects running smoothly. Proven results are important to any successful business. Time and time again, Union labor has delivered the workmanship and attention to detail that we expect of seasoned professionals.

Joe Canal’s Discount Liquor Store Built With
Union Labor

BACNJ adds value to the construction process

Joe Canal's Liquor StoreI believe in doing things right the first time. I prefer to work with well-established companies and generally find union workers to be experienced craftsmen who take pride in what they create.

I start every project with my customers in mind. That’s the thinking that has made Joe Canal’s on Fire Road in Egg Harbor Township the area’s largest discount liquor store serving Atlantic City and its suburbs.

When we were ready to break ground on a similar yet larger warehouse-style liquor store adjacent to Lowe’s Home Improvements on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township, I chose to partner with the most qualified workforce in the masonry industry – members of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union.

The 16,800-square-foot building features split face concrete block, a popular masonry material for many  applications. Commercial construction often relies on this versatile building material because it is fire-resistant and low maintenance. However, it is a very porous material and if not properly installed can lead to costly leaks, water damage and repairs. Quality work is not a gamble I’m willing to take. Masonry installed correctly should last a lifetime. I have found that masons trained by the BACNJ go above and beyond normal building practices to add value to the construction process.

Why AMC Benefits From Union Labor:

  • Level of professionalism unlike any other in the industry
  • Quality technical installations and excellent customer service
  • A serious commitment to jobsite safety

“In my experience I have found union companies to be more diligent and the workforces more experienced. Members of the BACNJ don’t want to cut corners. They are neat and clean in the way they work and create buildings that are nice to look at. Their dedication to their craft is obvious in the finished result.”
